Dr. Cho Win Maw was born in 1954. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Rangoon Institute of Technology in March 1977. He joined the Ministry of Industry in 1978 as an assistant engineer at the chemical plant, the Sittaung paper mill. He then transferred to the finishing plant, the Thamine textile mill in 1979.
Dr. Cho Win Maw was awarded a Post-graduate Diploma in computing by the Rangoon University in 1986 and a Master of
Applied Science degree in Food Engineering in 1987 and Ph.D. in 1991 by the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He has been a Professional Engineer since 2013 and ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer since 2015.Dr. Cho Win Maw worked as the Head of the Development Centre for Food Technology under the Myanma Foodstuff Industries, the Ministry of Industry until 2001. He was then promoted to the position of the General Manager of the Myanma Foodstuff Industries in 2001 and again promoted to the position of the Managing Director in 2009. Next, he was appointed as the Managing Director of the Pharmaceutical and Foodstuff Industries in 2010 when the two enterprises were merged. He retired from public service in 2014.
Dr. Cho Win Maw was awarded the Outstanding Performance Medal (Second Class) in the Industrial Field in 1998 and the Outstanding Performance Medal (Second Class) in the Management Field in 2002. He had been conferred the Honorary Fellow title of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations on 23rd November, 2016.
Dr. Cho Win Maw is currently the President of the Myanmar Engineering Council. He is also the Patron of the Food Science and Technology Association (Myanmar). He is a fellow of ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.
