of Myanmar Engineering Societies and Myanmar Engineering Council
jointly organized an awarding event to mark World Engineering Day for
Sustainable Development at the Thingaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 7 Mar.
At the ceremony, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing
delivered the speech on the history and present condition of Federation
of Myanmar Engineering Societies and the role of engineers for global
sustainable development.
That was followed by the speech of Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw. In his speech, he highlighted that engineers play the vital role in development of infrastructure and economic development by using new technologies. Capacity building training and holding workshops need to conduct continuously for raising the level of competence of engineers.
After that, Dr. Charlie Than, Myanmar Engineering Council President and Vice President of Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) also explained the purpose of observing World Engineering Day and activities of the federation.
Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education, also explained Myanmar's education reforms, requirements for implementation, vocational subjects, extensive activities, and participation of the ministry representing Myanmar in UNESCO including the duties of Myanmar as a UNESCO's central executive member.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Ministers, Regions & State Ministers, members of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee and Yangon City Development Committee, Members of Parliaments, Permanent Secretaries, chairpersons and central executive committee members of Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies and Myanmar Engineering Council and engineering organizations.
