MEngC President and his group welcomed WFEO Past President Dr. Marlene Kanga with the courtesies dated on 16 Janauary 2020 at MEngC HQ.

WFEO Past President then signed in the Guest Record Book at the function hall where a documentary photo was taken. 

Next, she met with MEngC representatives including professional assessment groups (PAGs) and also the evaluators and discussed about the development of engineering eduation through capacity building efforts in complied with agreed global standards for being the strong institution to facilitate mutual recognition of qualification with the mobility of engineers and to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was organized by National and International Relations Committee of Myanmar Engineering Council at No. 5A, Kha Yae Pin Road, Lanmadaw Township in Yangon dated on 28 September, 2019. The aim of this forum is to promote the efficient energy use and provide energy consumption reduction. At the opening ceremony Union Minister for Minisrty of Construction U Han Zaw delivered opening remarks. Next, Myanmar Engineering Council President Dr. Charlie Than delivered a speech.

Afterwards, Union Minister U Han Zaw, the departmental heads and officers, Patrons, President and Working Committees Chairmen, members of Myanmar Engineering Council, technicians and the invited guests looked around the booths of the exhibition. During this forum, the distinguished speakers emphasized the presentation on effective utilization of energy to explore and boost the implementation process for reducing energy consumption towards environmental conservation.

President Dr. Charlie Than and  Myanmar Engineering Council (MEngC) delegation went to an official visit to Malaysia and arrived back on 25 September 2019. They attended the Second Malaysia-UNESCO Cooperation Programme (MUCP) Expert Synthesis Meeting which was held in Batu Ferringhi, Penang Island of Malaysia dated on 23-24 September.

This meeting which is part of the MUCP Synethesis project, is to facilitate ready implementation of identifying key findings through expert analysis and key lessons learnt, customizing of knowledge base to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), results of evaluations conducted and how to further South-South Cooperation (SSC) at regional and inter-regional level using the framework of MUCP.

During this visit, MEngC delegation met UNESCO Director, Chief Minister and new Mayor of Penang. At this meeting, MEngC President participated in the dialogue session for sharing of experience and presented the highlight of "Myanmar Experience in the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) Engineering Education Guidelines and Washington Accord".

MEngC President Dr. Charlie Than, who is responsible for FEIAP Vice President, delivers the keynote speech on Standards and Best Practices in Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) Engineering Education Guidelines at the ceremony of Mandalay Technological University dated on 17 September 2019.

Delegation of Myanmar Engineers led by MEngC President Dr. Charlie Than attended the Forum on Maintenance of Infrastructure for Developing Countries hosted by International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre under the auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia dated on 22 July, 2019. The objective of this Forum is to impress upon the global development community the urgent need to devote resources for maintenance of infrastructure and the related human resource and institutional capacity building in South countries. During this forum, he participated in the plenary session on "Maintenance of Infrastructure and Industry 4.0".

 

The Accreditation System of Myanmar Engineering Council (MEngC) has been accepted in compliance with standards and best practices in FEIAP Guidelines, i.e., Engineering Education Programs accredited second level by MEngC would be recognized as substantial equivalent to requirements for APEC Engineers and mentioned FEIAP Accredited Program List.

Myanmar Engineering Council President Dr. Charlie Than and his delegates attended the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and Pacific (FEIAP) 27th General Assembly and 5th Convention 2019 with the theme on “Mutual Recognition of Engineering Education” held in Xian, China dated on 28 – 30 June, 2019. During the FEIAP Governing Council meeting, Myanamar Engineering Council got for elected Vice President; (Dr. Charlie Than,Vice President of FEIAP, that is President Elect in FEIAP).

 

MEngC President Dr. Charlie Than participated in and discussed under the topic of strategy for effective implementation of FEIAP Engineering Education Guidelines at the round-table meeting dated on 29 Jun, 2019 in order to facilitate and promote the Mutual Recognition of Engineering Education Programs among FEIAP member economies and other parts of the world.
